What happens

Tessa, a young Englishwoman, lives with her grandfather Osborn and her younger siblings Michael and Mary on a houseboat in a lagoon, while her husband Eric is overseas with the Air Force. The family has arranged to host a soldier for Sunday dinner through the USO. Money is tight, and a basket of crabs sold in town brings trouble, leaving Tessa angry with Osborn. Meanwhile Kenneth Norman, a wealthy suitor, offers Tessa a comfortable life, and she must weigh his proposal against her family's needs as the dinner approaches.

Listen for: Tessa's conversations with Grandfather Osborn about the lost money, and her talk with Kenneth Norman about his proposal.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
