What happens

Matt Gordon, a former American naval officer, returns to Singapore and finds his old life tangled in a hunt for a fortune in pearls. Years earlier he had been there with Linda Graham, and their brief romance ended in the chaos of war. Now he crosses paths with a British customs official who suspects smuggling, a sinister dealer named Mr. Moribus, and a woman who seems not to recognise him. This Lux Radio Theatre production, presented by Lever Brothers and produced by William Keeley, adapts the Universal International film Singapore. Fred MacMurray and Ava Gardner star. The broadcast aired on November 3, 1947.

Singapore, present day in the story's time, with flashbacks to the Japanese attack of 1941-42

Characters: Matt Gordon, Linda Graham, Mr. Hewitt, Sasha, Mr. Moribus, Gerald Bellows, Mrs. Bellows, Mrs. Van Leidenhem

Listen for: Matt's return to the hotel and his encounter with Mr. Hewitt at the airport, then the flashback to his wedding plans with Linda just before the Japanese attack

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
