What happens
William Spring Smith, a young English literature professor from Middleton, Kansas, and Jenny Stewart, a girl from Hooker, Oklahoma, meet on a bus bound for Hollywood. Both have come west with hopes of a new start, Smith to study at UCLA and Stewart to become a movie star after a talent scout promised her a career. Smith finds an unexpected connection with his aunt, the former film actress Lily Spring, who lives in Hollywood. Their friendship grows as Jenny's hopes and his own studies pull them in different directions. The lead role is played by Joseph Cotton, and the program is part of the Lux Summer Theatre series, first broadcast on August 3, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
