What happens
Reverend Will Spence, a Canadian minister, disrupts a sermon-filled life when his bride Hope accompanies him to a rundown parsonage in Lake Dunning, Ontario, in 1904. The house's dusty rooms, long-kept portraits of former ministers' wives, and a committee determined to redecorate it set the tone for the early years of their marriage. Will's restless ambition pulls the family onward to Fort Dodge, where he takes on a larger parish, and the couple debates whether the move is his calling or his pride. Their daughter Eileen and son Hart are growing up through these changes. In Fort Dodge, Will announces a plan to rebuild the church, which depends on a wealthy member, Lydia Sandow, who chairs the parsonage committee. The story is set in the Spence family's church life in the Midwest and Canada.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
