What happens

Lee Leander, a young woman accused of stealing a $5,000 diamond bracelet from a Fifth Avenue jewelry store, faces prosecutor John Sergeant in court. Sergeant has a reputation for winning cases, and he is about to leave town for Christmas. Her lawyer argues she was hypnotized, but the trial is postponed until after the holiday, and Lee is held in custody. Sergeant unexpectedly arranges her bail, and the two develop an unlikely relationship as they travel together toward Lee's childhood home in Indiana. This Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the 1940 Paramount film Remember the Night stars Barbara Stanwick and Fred MacMurray, with Elizabeth Patterson, Beulah Bondi and Sterling Holloway. It was broadcast on March 25, 1940.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
