What happens

Polly, a young circus rider, is badly hurt when her horse bolts during a performance in a small town. Her friends Jim McNally and Toby, having left for the next town, leave her in the care of Dr. John Douglas, who takes her into his home to treat her broken ankle. This Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of Margaret Mayo's play stars Loretta Young as Polly, with James Gleason and Gavin Gordon. The broadcast, from November 30, 1936, is hosted by Lionel Barrymore while Cecil B. DeMille is in New York. As Polly recovers, she begins to adjust to a life of comfort in the doctor's household, while the town's disapproval weighs on Douglas and his practice.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
