What happens
In Singapore, Joan Ames, a young woman with a serious heart condition, meets Dan Hardesty at a bar and the two fall in love aboard the steamship Maloa bound for San Francisco. Dan is secretly a prisoner in the custody of Steve Burke, a detective escorting him back to face execution for murder. Joan's doctor, John Bolton, watches over her as she spends her last days enjoying life. The Lux Radio Theatre production of One-Way Passage was broadcast on March 6, 1939, starring William Powell and Kay Francis, with William Gargan and Marjorie Rambo. Norma Shearer was expected but unable to appear.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
