What happens

Charlotte Vail, a fragile and withdrawn woman dominated by her controlling mother, returns home after a stay at a sanatorium under Dr. Jaquith's care. Charlotte is determined to recover and build a life of her own. Her mother, however, insists on old family ways and resents her changed appearance and independence. Charlotte's mother has arranged a family dinner that evening, and the old tensions between mother and daughter quickly surface. The story is part of the Lux Radio Theatre series, broadcast on May 10, 1943, adapted from the 1943 Warner Brothers film, with Ida Lupino and Paul Henry in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
