What happens

Nick Blake, newly discharged from the army, travels west with his friend Al Doyle and finds his money was lost in a nightclub run by Penny, who has since turned to Eddie King. Back in Los Angeles, the con man Doc Ganson and his partner Pop Gruber learn Nick is in town and decide he could help them pursue a wealthy widow, Mrs. Gladys Halverson. The Lux Radio Theatre play is an adaptation of the 1947 Warner Brothers film Nobody Lives Forever, presented in 1947 on 17 November and starring Jane Wyman and Ronald Reagan. Nick poses as a shipping man and meets Gladys at the Marwood Arms hotel, where her business manager Charles Manning is also staying. The episode follows Nick's first moves in his scheme.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
