What happens
Lux Radio Theatre presents Mrs. Parkington, adapted from Metro Bogan Mayer's screenplay, with Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon in the leading roles. Susan Graham, a young boarding-house worker in the Nevada mining town of Leadville, meets Major Augustus Parkington, a mine owner, and their quick courtship and marriage bring her into New York high society. Susan settles into her new life as wife and mother, while Augustus pursues his rivalries and financial schemes. The story follows the strains of wealth, ambition and pride on their marriage and on the family, and this portion of the episode ends with Susan and Augustus arguing over his business dealings and the future of their household.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
