What happens
This Lux Radio Theatre broadcast, titled Movietime USA, aired on September 24, 1951, and presents scenes from several films honoring the motion picture industry's fiftieth anniversary. Later scenes include Claudette Colbert and Anne Blyth in Thunder on the Hill, John Wayne and Robert Ryan in Flying Leathernecks, and Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron in An American in Paris, with Lux commercials interspersed throughout.
Houston, Texas in the 1930s; an English convent by a flooded North Sea village; a Pacific island in 1942; and Paris
Characters: Dizzy Dean, Pat, Jerome Hermann Dean, Paul, Larry, Sister Mary, Valerie Khan, Dan Kirby
Listen for: Dizzy Dean's comic courtship of Pat and the tense exchange between Sister Mary and the condemned Valerie Khan
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
