What happens

Margot Channing, a celebrated Broadway actress, takes an interest in Eve Harrington, a devoted young fan who has watched every performance of her play. Margot's husband Lloyd and her friend Birdie are drawn into the picture as Eve tells of her past, from a Wisconsin girlhood through the death of her husband in the war. Eve quickly becomes part of Margot's household, and Margot's companion Bill, a director, grows fond of her. This Lux Radio Theatre production, broadcast on October 1, 1951, stars Betty Davis, Baxter, Reginald Gardner and Gary Merrill in the roles of Margot, Eve, critic Addison de Witt and Bill.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
