What happens

Myrtle Gravel, a young woman from a small town, joins Frank Burt's vaudeville act after a chance audition in Frankfort, Indiana. Frank is a flashy performer who relies on Myrtle's talent, and their partnership soon grows into romance and a rocky working relationship. Myrtle begins to chafe at being overshadowed while Frank struggles to imagine the act without her. The story follows their years on the road, their marriage and their young son Mikey as the couple balance family life with the demands of the stage. The Lux Radio Theatre broadcast presents this adaptation of the 1949 20th Century Fox film, with Betty Grable and Dan Dailey starring, and it first aired on November 14, 1949.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
