What happens
Steve Kennett, a former bomber pilot, is held in a psychiatric hospital after he confesses to strangling his wife, Helen, in a city park. Dr. Anne Larson, a psychiatrist at the hospital, interviews him while his lawyer and the district attorney press for a quick trial. Kennett resists surgery for a head injury and refuses truth-serum treatment. The episode is the first half of this Lux Radio Theatre play, presented on November 7, 1949, with Van Heflin as Kennett and Janet Leigh as Dr. Larson. Its suspense comes from Kennett's shifting memories and the questions they raise about his confession.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
