What happens

Lux Radio Theatre presents Moontide, a 1945 broadcast from the Lux Radio Theatre series, first aired on April 30, 1945, starring Humphrey Bogart and Virginia Bruce. Bobo, a drifting wanderer on the West Coast waterfront, wakes on a bait barge in the dreary fishing town of South Valley, California, with little memory of the night before. A dead man named Kelly has been choked, and Bobo is not sure what part he played. He takes a job on the barge and meets Anna, a young woman pulled from the water after wandering in at the edge of the sea. Bobo's pal Tiny, a volatile companion, keeps pressing him to leave town, and the two grow increasingly unsettled as the mystery deepens.

The fishing town of South Valley, California, on the Pacific coast, including a bait barge near the breakwater, a waterfront boarding house, and the town's cannery and saloons.

Characters: Bobo, Anna, Tiny, Nutsy, Gus

Listen for: Bobo's confusion about what happened the night Kelly was killed, and the tension between Bobo and Tiny as Tiny pushes him to leave town.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
