What happens

Bill Dunnegan, a Hollywood press agent, arranges a funeral for Olga Trocky, an actress whose body is brought back to the Pennsylvania mining town of Coltown. Through his memories, we learn how he met Olga years earlier in a touring show, when she was an aspiring chorus dancer, and how their friendship grew over a Christmas Eve dinner. Bill later finds her a role in Marcus Harris's film Joan of Arc after the lead actress walks out. Olga's determination to succeed grows as her health declines. Father Paul, the parish priest at St. Michael's, listens to Bill's account as he works out the arrangements for the burial. This Lux Radio Theatre production is an adaptation of the 1948 RKO film The Miracle of the Bells, broadcast May 31, 1948, starring Fred MacMurray, Valli and Frank Sinatra.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
