What happens
Marsha Monet, a celebrated opera singer, is reminded of the Paris years that made her career when a young American soldier, Paul Allison, pursues her. Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy star in this Lux Radio Theatre production of Maytime, broadcast on September 4, 1944, with Edgar Barrier as Nazaroff. Told partly in flashback, the story follows the old Miss Morrison of Shelby, Virginia, who recalls her youth in Paris, the dinner party at the cafe where she first meets Paul, and her promise to lunch with him. Her teacher Nazaroff proposes marriage, and Marsha must weigh her gratitude and her feelings for Paul as May Day approaches.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
