What happens
Larry Stevens, a young newspaper reporter in 1896, longs to see tomorrow's newspaper today after his editor's old colleague, Pop Benson, tells him about the futures kept in the paper's file albums. Larry is given a copy of a later paper, and he finds that its items match what happens the next day. He meets Sylvia, a mind reader whose act is performed with her husband, Lombardi, and the two begin a relationship. Donna Reed and Anne Baxter star in this Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the film It Happened Tomorrow, which was first broadcast on July 3, 1944.
A newspaper office in 1896 and the city around it, including a restaurant, an opera house, and a mind-reading stage act.
Characters: Larry Stevens, Sylvia, Pop Benson, Andy, Mr. Gordon, Lombardi, Joe, Mike
Listen for: Larry reading the paper dated the next day and his editor's reaction when he predicts the opera house holdup.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
