What happens

Maisie Revere, a chorus girl who has just lost her job at a circus sideshow, finds herself in trouble after a drunken night out with Bob Ralston, a wealthy young man who borrowed the car she was driving. Forced by a judge to employ her, Bob arranges a maid's position at his family's home, where she clashes with the household's stiff butler Walpole and his sister Abby, whose guests treat Maisie with thinly veiled disdain. This Lux Radio Theatre production stars Anne Southern, Lou Ayres, Maureen O'Sullivan and Henry Stevenson, and was first broadcast on November 24, 1941. The episode is a comedy of manners and mistaken social standing.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
