What happens

Stephen Fitzgerald, a newspaperman, stalls on a country road in Ireland and meets Nora, who lives in a village by the sea. An old shoemaker he encounters seems to be a leprechaun, and Stephen's experiences there unsettle him. Back in New York, Stephen takes a job ghostwriting speeches for D.C. Orger, a publisher planning to run for the Senate, and he finds Nora again in Manhattan. This Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the 20th Century Fox film The Luck of the Irish aired on December 27, 1948, starring Dana Andrews, Anne Baxter, and Cecil Kellaway.

Ireland's County Clare countryside and a village by the sea, then New York City

Characters: Stephen Fitzgerald, Nora, Horace, Bill, D.C. Orger, Frances, Dennis

Listen for: Horace's arrival at Stephen's New York apartment and the mysterious gold coin

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
