What happens

Steve Layton, a star reporter at the New York Daily Express, clashes with his editor Marty Canavan over a scoop about socialite Tony Gateson's return from Europe. After a rival reporter is sent to get the story, Steve tricks his way to the heiress at her uncle Cyrus Jeffrey's house and files an exclusive interview. Tony then decides to play along with the press, and the pair's sparring turns into a public engagement. This is the Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the 1940 film Love Is News, first broadcast on September 16, 1940, starring Bob Hope, Madeleine Carroll and Ralph Bellamy.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
