What happens

Priam Fowl, a celebrated painter who has lived abroad for twenty-five years, returns to London under the name Henry Leek to avoid a knighthood. His loyal valet Brian falls gravely ill, and when Leek dies, a doctor's error leads to his name being recorded on the death certificate, while Fowl quietly accepts the mistake. Leek then answers a matrimonial advertisement and meets Alice Chalet, a widow who takes an interest in him. The episode, a Lux Radio Theatre production first broadcast on May 10, 1954, stars Charles Laughton and Faye Bainter.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
