What happens

Officer Donnegan, a New York traffic policeman, talks to a young man named Robert Cosick who stands on a narrow ledge outside a fifteenth-floor window of the Hotel Rodney. A crowd gathers in the street below as police, firemen and a psychologist, Dr. Strauss, try to reach him. Donnegan keeps Robert talking while radio appeals go out for his family. The Lux Radio Theatre broadcast of Fourteen Hours, originally aired March 23, 1953, stars Paul Douglas as Donnegan. The story is still unfolding in this portion, with Robert's mother and father brought to the hotel room.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
