What happens
Captain James West's daughter Jane insists on joining her father's China run as a sailor, though the crew and the rival captain Tansy McCoy doubt she belongs at sea. Jane stays aboard against her father's wishes, and her presence on the ship soon sparks trouble with McCoy, a brash American captain. The episode is the Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of Neil Patterson's story China Run, starring Virginia Mayo, broadcast on June 8, 1953. Its early scenes establish the tension between the family's ambitions and the dangers of the sea.
A cargo ship on the China run in the 1840s, with ports including Bournemouth, Manila and Bangkok.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
