What happens
In 1807, Captain Horatio Hornblower sails his small Royal Navy ship, the Lydia, on a secret mission far from England while Napoleon threatens invasion. Running short of food and water, he reaches a bay where a Spanish-speaking rebel leader, El Supremo, is to receive British arms. Hornblower must deal with the unstable ally and the crew's growing restlessness. The story is adapted from the tales of C.S. Forester and broadcast as part of the Lux Radio Theatre, first aired on January 21, 1952, with Gregory Peck in the title role and Virginia Mayo as Lady Barbara Wellesley.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
