What happens

Tom Jeffords, a former Union Army man prospecting for gold in Arizona, spares a wounded Apache boy and is later captured by a war party. Released, he learns of a new colonel's plan to crush Cochise, the Apache leader, and he tries to secure the mail routes through Apache land. Jeffords seeks out Cochise, hoping to reach a peace between the two peoples. The episode is a 1951 Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the film Broken Arrow, with Burt Lancaster as Tom Jeffords and Jeff Chandler as Cochise, and Deborah Paget also in the cast. Jeffords finds himself caught between his own people's suspicion and the Apache leader's wary respect.

Listen for: Jeffords's first meeting with Cochise at the Apache stronghold, and the exchange with Sonseeahray at the stream

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
