What happens

Laura Jesson, a suburban wife, meets Dr. Alec Harvey at the railway station in Milford, England, after a grit in her eye is removed by him. Over several Thursdays they meet, share lunches, a trip to the pictures and a boating outing, and begin to fall in love. Laura hides these meetings from her husband, Fred, and her hidden unease grows as she lies to him and comes close to being discovered. This adaptation of the Brief Encounter story is presented on the Lux Radio Theatre series, originally broadcast on 1948-11-29.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
