What happens

In Stockholm, Anna Holm stands trial for the murder of a man, having been a cafe owner who was drawn into blackmail. Her life was shaped by a facial scar from childhood, which made her reluctant to be seen and led her to Dr. Seger and Torsten Barring. Torsten Barring is a customer who treats her with unexpected kindness. The court hears testimony from the cafe manager and others as Anna recounts her past, her relationship with Barring, and the series of operations she underwent in hopes of changing her appearance. This is a Lux Radio Theatre production, first aired on November 2, 1942, with Ida Lupino, Brian Aherne and Conrad Veidt.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
