What happens

During the First World War, Lieutenant Frederick Henry serves as an ambulance officer in the Italian army near the front in Northern Italy. He is drawn into the company of Dr. Renaldi, a surgeon, and meets Catherine Barkley, an English nurse. Their friendship deepens during a night outing, and Frederick finds himself increasingly drawn to her. This Lux Radio Theatre production, first broadcast on April 5, 1937, stars Clark Gable, Josephine Hutchinson, Adolf Menjou and Jack LaRue, and is adapted from Ernest Hemingway's novel A Farewell to Arms.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
