What happens

Luigi Vasco, newly arrived from Italy, decides to buy his own car after a year of saving, despite having only a hundred dollars. He consults his night-school teacher, Mr. Folling, and his classmates, who send him to a car lot. There a salesman sells him an old, stripped-down car. Luigi then learns that he needs a learner's permit and a driver's license before he can drive it legally. The series Life with Luigi, broadcast in 1949, stars J. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
