What happens
Luigi Basko, an Italian immigrant in Chicago, is eager to attend the big dance of his antique dealers' association and needs a date. His friend Pasquale pushes him to ask a young woman, Jenna Brown, who has just moved into his building. Luigi's friends and acquaintances offer unhelpful advice as he prepares, buying a suit and steeling his nerve. Life with Luigi is a comedy series produced by Sheldon Keller, and this episode originally aired on April 22, 1952. J. Carroll Naish stars as Luigi, with Alan Reed as Pasquale.
Chicago, 1950s
Characters: Luigi Basko, Pasquale, Jenna Brown, Mr. Crawford, Regina
Listen for: Luigi's attempts to win over Jenna at the dance and the mix-up over the club's history
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
