What happens
Luigi Basko, a newly arrived Italian immigrant in America, dreams of becoming a singer. His friend Pasquale Squally, a practical fellow, tries to talk him out of it, pointing out his unlikely looks and his poor voice. Luigi, however, is determined. Squally proposes to manage him, and the two set out to prepare for an amateur show, with a voice teacher and a few tricks to win over the audience. The episode is a comedy in the Life with Luigi series, first broadcast on September 11, 1949. Jerry Colonna stars as Luigi, with Alan Reed as Pasquale Squally.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
