What happens

Luigi Bosco, a meticulous but worried immigrant shopkeeper, receives a letter from the Internal Revenue Department asking him to explain his 1951 income tax return. Friends and acquaintances, including Pasquale, offer advice that only makes matters more confusing. Luigi pursues a loan to cover a supposed shortfall, leading to an awkward encounter at a finance office. He then visits the tax office, where a clerk walks him through the forms. The Life with Luigi series, created by Sigh Howard, presents this installment, first broadcast on March 11, 1952, with J. Carol Nash in the title role and Alan Reed as Pasquale. The story is told through Luigi's letters to his mother in Italy.

New York City, in the early 1950s, including Luigi's antique shop, a night school classroom, a finance company office, and a federal tax office.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
