Luigi Vasco, a Chicago immigrant, is evicted for unpaid rent after his landlord Mr. Pasquale demands payment and refuses further delay. Luigi decides to leave town and head west, and his friends Sam and Esther gather to say goodbye. Luigi writes to his mother in Italy about his plans, then boards a bus west. He falls in with a talkative driver, Bob Lipton, who offers him a ride toward California. Meanwhile, Pasquale hires a private investigator to track Luigi's movements. The episode is part of the Life with Luigi comedy series, and it is sponsored by Wrigley's. The lead actor is J. Carroll Naish as Luigi.

Chicago, Illinois, and the route west through the United States toward California

Listen for: Luigi's letters to his mother in Italy, his bus and car journey west with Bob Lipton, and the friends' reactions when he leaves town

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
