What happens

Luigi Basko, a newcomer in America, writes home to his mother in Italy about his adventures, and in this episode he opens a letter addressed to his landlord Pasquale by mistake. Pasquale, who has played April Fool's jokes before, soon learns that Luigi believes he has been accused of a serious federal crime. Luigi is worried about the consequences and seeks advice from his friends at the barbershop and the delicatessen. The episode is an installment of the comedy series Life with Luigi, which aired on CBS Radio on April 1, 1952, and stars J. Carrol Naish as Luigi with Alan Reed as Pasquale.

A small Italian-American neighborhood in an American city, including Pasquale's shop, a barbershop, a delicatessen, and the local post office.

Characters: Luigi Basko, Pasquale, Lefty, Schulz, Rosa, Joe, Mr. Simmons

Listen for: Pasquale's April Fool's prank, Luigi's growing panic over the opened letter, and the advice his friends give him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
