What happens
Chester Riley learns that his daughter Barbara has won a scholarship to Peabody College, but the award depends on an interview with the Dean. Riley's returning Uncle Baxter, a boastful and freeloading relative, has taken over the house, and the family's hopes now rest on how the household presents itself. Riley and Baxter prepare for the visit, and Baxter offers to pose as the family's respectable face. The episode is part of The Life of Riley, a comedy series first broadcast on January 31, 1948, with William Bendix in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
