What happens
Chester A. Riley, a loud and blustery father, decides to ration his family's use of the household telephone after a two-hour busy signal leaves him fuming. His children run up the line talking to friends, and Riley begins charging them a nickel per call. When he locks the phone in a hall closet, it leads to a string of awkward encounters with the neighbors, including a visit from a parent-teacher leader considering him for a child guidance committee. Riley's stubborn plan keeps unraveling as the household's patience wears thin.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
