What happens
Chester A. Riley, played by William Bendix, is at odds with his wife Peg over their daughter Babs' boyfriend, Simon Vanderhopper, whom Riley considers a loafer and wants out of the house. Riley's son Junior helps him write to the advice columnist Dorothy Fairchild, asking how to deal with the young man. Simon, who has been ghost-writing that column, becomes entangled in the family's disputes. Babs and Simon's relationship keeps causing tension between Riley and Peg, and Riley's efforts to handle the situation grow increasingly strained. The episode is from The Life of Riley, a radio series first broadcast on March 15, 1947, on the Blue Network/ABC and NBC, with William Bendix, Paula Winslowe, Hans Conried and Alan Reed in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
