What happens
Chester Riley, a California aircraft worker, learns that his mother-in-law, Harriet Turnbull, is coming to visit from the East. His friend Jim Gillis warns him that an in-law visit will end his free life at home, and Riley begins to resist the idea. Peg, his wife, asks him to tidy the house and give up closet space for her mother, and their household routines start to change. Riley's reluctance grows as he prepares to stand up for himself. The story is part of The Life of Riley, first broadcast on May 13, 1945, with William Bendix in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
