What happens
Chester Riley, a riveter, dreams that his son Junior will become a baseball star, and he trains the boy accordingly. When Junior's algebra grades slip and the school says he cannot play on the team unless they improve, Riley insists on helping with the homework himself. His wife Peg and the family repeatedly interfere as Riley tries to work through the problem. Part of the episode is a comedy sketch in The Life of Riley series, first broadcast on April 1, 1949, on the Blue Network/ABC and NBC, starring William Bendix as Riley and Paula Winslowe as Peg.
The Riley home, with Riley's daydreams of a Brooklyn Dodgers baseball game.
Characters: Riley, Peg Riley, Junior, Babs, Digger O'Dell, Jim Gillis
Listen for: Riley insisting he will handle Junior's algebra himself, and the mounting confusion as the family interrupts.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
