What happens
Chester Riley is a newly graduated fireman, and his wife Peggy is expecting their baby. His father-in-law, Mr. Barker, resents him and his new job. When Barker's store is wrecked by a hook and ladder truck, Riley is demoted and assigned to look after the station dog. The Life of Riley, broadcast on the Blue Network and NBC, stars William Bendix, Paula Winslowe, Hans Conried and Alan Reed in this episode first aired on 1949-12-16. Later, a fire at Barker's store leads Riley to suspect something, and tension builds in the household.
