What happens

Riley and his neighbour Gillis quarrel over a squeezed tomato at the grocer's, and their wives take offence. Riley's wife Peg refuses to speak to him, and Riley and Gillis agree to a pact to withhold Valentine's Day affection from their wives. Riley then buys a mushy card but switches to a nasty comic one for Gillis's wife, while Riley's own family confuses matters. The Life of Riley is a comedy series from the Blue Network and NBC, broadcast on February 14, 1948, and William Bendix stars as Riley, with Paula Winslowe as Peg.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
