What happens
Chester A. Riley, a worker at an aircraft plant, comes home bitter after his foreman reprimands him for smoking in the paint shop. His son Junior has been invited to his first dance at the YMCA on New Year's Eve, and Riley spends the evening trying to help him. Junior accepts dates with two girls, Betty Blakely and Angela Hawkins, and Riley's attempts to smooth things over bring new complications with the girls' fathers, their landlord Henry Blakely and Gus Hawkins. The Life of Riley is a comedy series, and this episode first aired on January 3, 1948, on the Blue Network and ABC and NBC. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
