What happens
Chester A. Riley and his wife worry about being evicted from their rented house after the landlord puts it up for sale. Their son Junior and their neighbour Hobart Morris's daughter Marilyn come home late, and Riley and Morris quarrel over the children. Their children then send each man a note inviting him to dinner, and both men arrive expecting the other to pay. The Life of Riley is a radio comedy series, and this 1946 episode, first broadcast on 22 June 1946 on the Blue Network and ABC, stars William Bendix as Riley, with Paula Winslowe in the cast.
Riley's rented house and a neighbourhood in an American city, plus a restaurant in the evening
Characters: Chester A. Riley, Mrs. Riley, Junior, Hobart Morris, Marilyn Morris, Digby O'Dell
Listen for: The two fathers' quarrel over their children, and the dinner at the cafe where each man assumes the other has invited him
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
