What happens

Chester A. Riley worries that his son Junior, a junior high football quarterback, is upset because his girlfriend Marilyn likes a rival player, and the winning school will hold a victory dance. Riley tells Junior a story from his own youth, when he was a star football player. He also had a girl, Peg, and a rival named Clinton Badger. In the story, Riley receives a menacing phone call warning him not to win or lose the big game, and he begins to fear for his safety and his romance. The story is set in Brooklyn, and it is told through the Riley household and the football field. The Life of Riley aired on October 27, 1945, on the Blue Network and ABC, with William Bendix as Riley.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
