What happens
Boris Rusoff, a performer with the Jerry of the Circus company, receives a letter inviting him to a costume ball given by a Russian countess in exile. Boris and his assistant Olga plan an elaborate child-style costume, and Boris asks Jerry to lend him a hat worn in his act. Jerry and his friend Slats, who suspect the invitation is a joke, watch as Boris boasts about his good fortune. Later, Boris is seen outside the circus grounds in his costume, drawing a crowd while the circus owner, Mr. Randall, grows concerned about the disturbance.
A circus lot and midway in a small American town, during the evening of a circus performance.
Characters: Jerry, Boris Rusoff, Olga, Slats, Mr. Randall, Mr. Andrew
Listen for: Boris's boastful reactions to the countess's invitation, and the moment Boris appears in costume outside the circus grounds.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
