What happens
Jerry, a circus performer, and his friend Patsy travel to the fairgrounds to watch the big handicap race. Jerry has a personal stake in the outcome: his friend Tom is riding Blaze, a horse whose chances look poor, and the prize money matters greatly to Tom and his father. Before the race, Jerry meets Mr. Rogers, Tom's employer, who has arranged tickets and asks Jerry to wish Tom luck. Jerry gives Tom a good-luck ring and some riding tips. The horses are led onto the track, and the field is lined up at the starting barrier as the race is about to begin.
A horse racing track and fairgrounds, with a grandstand, a paddock and a starting barrier, on the day of a big handicap race.
Characters: Jerry, Patsy, Tom, Mr. Rogers
Listen for: The starting bugle and the call of the horses at the barrier, and whether Blaze can keep up with the field.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
