What happens

Jerry and his dog Rags spend a quiet morning at the circus lot until an elephant named Gertie charges through the soft drink stand, smashing bottles and cases. Jerry helps the handlers calm her, and the crew finds that snuff has been rubbed into her eyes. Sam and Jerry learn that a worker named Zeke has left the circus, and Randall decides the damage must be made good. The story then turns to Randall's search for a strong new hand to replace the one who left.

A circus lot, including the main top, the horse tent, and the soft drink stand, with a freight train on the nearby track.

Characters: Jerry, Rags, Gertie, Olsen, Mike, Zeke, Sam, Randall

Listen for: Jerry's dialogue with the elephant handlers and with Sam, the discovery of snuff in Gertie's eyes, and Randall's search for a new worker.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
