What happens
Jerry Dugan, a young helper at a circus, is put to work carrying water for the head horseman, Whitey. While tending a nervous mare, Jerry notices odd behaviour in the animals. Later that night a fire breaks out in the horse tent, and Jerry and the circus performers rush to save the horses and fight the blaze. Meanwhile Jerry's dog Rags has gone missing from the wagon where Jerry left him. The episode is the third in the Jerry of the Circus series, first broadcast on June 30, 1937.
A traveling circus, including its horse tent, big top, and animal wagons, at night.
Characters: Jerry Dugan, Whitey, Bumps, Jason, Rags
Listen for: The nervous mare in the horse tent, the cry of fire, and the sound of Rags's barking as the episode closes.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
