What happens

Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone trade jokes on a Halloween-season broadcast, with Don Wilson and Phil Harris taking part. Benny recounts masquerade parties and a dish of gelatin, and Eddie Anderson's character asks about voting. The show then moves into a minstrel-show segment, Doc Benny's Minstrels, set in a 1906 small-town theatre where Harris and Livingstone exchange rough jokes with the troupe. The program is the Jell-O show from November 1, 1936, on NBC and CBS Radio.

Listen for: The minstrel-show segment, particularly the exchange between Phil Harris and the troupe over stolen chicken.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
